Ripping bin files

Post by hollywood_x »

I'm trying to learn and understand the hardware, software, and interface all together. As of now I have an Ostrich 2 and a Burn 2 for hardware and I am using Tuner Pro RT 5 for interface.

I pulled the chip from my BMW 413 silver label ECU and put it into my burn 2. Everything I have found so far tells me to insert the chip notch end to the zip handle leaving 2 open slots between them. Then I go to TOOLS > MOATES PROM I/O > READ CHIP now once I did that I saved the buffer file and verified it with the chip. Everything came out successful.

So to verify I attempt to open the bin file in a normal 413 silver label xdf file and its 0's across. Then I open it in WINOLS just to see the bare bin file and again its not making sense. It just doesn't look like a normal bin file so I must be ripping it wrong.

What kind of chip is it? (e.g. 27C128? 27C256?)

I actually figured it out and I tried to find the link to add back into here but I'm at a loss. I should have kept better track.
The chip was a 27FS512 for a BMW and where I went wrong was the addressing for chip and buffer. I found a post somewhere that pointed out where to start each for 32 and 64 bit. Once I had the right addressing selected it saved correctly and I was able to pull the bin and open it back up in one of the XDF's saved on your site.
