Cant Get Tuner Pro RT Running

Post by 8valve »

I am a new Tuner Pro RT user and very weak on computers. My Car is a 1987
Corvette, automatic, totally stock. My computer is a IBM Think pad running Windows 98 with serial port. I bought a ALDL ORB1 Serial Cable. Following the cable instructions, the jumper is placed to put the 10K resistor in the circuit.
My computer serial port, COM 1 tests out working with my GPS feeding data to
COM Port 1 and displaying active data on maps. I have not yet registered and donated until I am sure Tuner Pro RT will work on my computer.

I have Tuner Pro RT set up using Bin ARAP.bin and ASDF 6E.xdf
The computer executes Tuner Pro RT, ignition key is turned to on, dash lights up.

I click on the Blue Arrows at the top of the screen.

At the bottom of the screen the following is displayed;
Not Emulating
Connected V85.85U
ALDL Connected in BLUE letters

The problem, no data is transmitted. Dash board remains all at Zero
Other screens show no data whatsoever, its blank waiting for data.

I could not find any place in Tuner Pro RT to select COM 1 as the input port ?

Can someone help me ? What am I doing wrong ?

Even with the engine running, no data is transmitted.

Many Thanks
Paul

Sounds like you are using TP RT V4.

Have you selected a proper ADS? This is what deciphers the datastream.

Click on Tools>Preferences>ALDL/EMULATION tab, then set up the com port there. You can also test to make sure that TP RT is seeing the cable from that tab as well.

Six Shooter, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I am using Tuner Pro RT V 4.14, just downloaded it yesterday. Ok, I checked as you suggested and I am set on COM Port 1. I dont know what you mean by proper ADS.
I have ARAP.BIN installed and shows on top of the Screen. I have 6E.XDF installed and shows on top of the screen. Where do I find ADS for a 87 Corvette with Auto and how do I install it. This is a steep learning curve, thanks for your patience.

My main purpose with TPRT is to diagnose and repair problems. I have no plans to change EPROM Data, my car will stay stock.

Thank You

You should be able to download a proper ADS at moates.net, in the file manager.

The ADS deciphers the datastream. You can use the ADS, watching values, without a bin or XDF loaded.

If you're not planning to use TP RT to tune, you may want to look at using WinALDL, since I believe it supports your car, and is just a logging program, nothing else to confuse you.

Ok, thank you...I understand. Yes, no tuning, just diagnosis of problems and repair. I will look at Winaldl.
