how to create a definition file?

Post by garyfink »

If there is no supported def file in you downloads section how do you create one. Can it be done with a moates emulator? I guess you guys call them a .xdf and how do you get that file extension.

Thanks

What mask/ECM are you looking for? Your looking to make changes in bin file with XDF right? Do you have data aqcusition file ADX for it?

There is an TunerPr XDF/ADX lookup availble in excel format at:

I have a .bin file I bought but when I try to load it tunerpro tells me there is no .xdf loaded. Which is the calibration code for the pcm. Without it the software does not know how to handle the data.
As far as I can see there are no places on the internet to find these files so I need to know how to create one. Can it be done with a moates emulator?

It looks like the ecu is from a diesel, strategy VHAE9.

To create a xdf you need to disassemble the code to figure out where (and what!) the parameters are. Once you have done that you can create your definition, see the TunerPro help section 'Editing Bin Definitions' on how to do this.

You need to disassemble it, Bill Lawrence's disassembler can be found here http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/EEC ... r%20tools/
