Do I need the 10K resister w/ 165 ecm, and if ......

can I take it out when it connects? I hate the idea of tuning the car based on info taken while it is in an altered state(higher idle, timing changes?). I used to use moates old software(only needed 10k resister to connect) with an old laptop running win 95 but that laptop has passed its expiration date and now its time to give tunerpro a try.

After you get connected you can remove the 10k resistor.
