Why are the first 2 bytes of my bin file changed?

Post by robm-951 »

Hi,

I have TunerPro 3.09 set up for editing some Bosche Motronics code, but whenever I save the file it changes the first 2 bytes of the bin file.

I figured this might have something to do with the checksum, so I set the checksum sizes and address all to 0 and I pick "no" in the save checksum dialog box when it pops up, but the first 2 bytes are still getting changed.

Is there a way to correct this or set it so it does not happen?

Also, how well does TunerPro work with Moates Ostrich real time editor?

Thanks,
Rob

TunerPro is designed exclusively to work with the Ostrich and AutoProm (both of Moates's emulators).

Regarding the checksum, I'll have to investigate this (I'm out of town at the moment). I would have thought setting the size to zero would completely disable the ability to save a checksum.

Meanwhile, in preferences, you can de-select the save checksum checkbox (General tab).

Thanks for the reply.

I tried de-selecting the save checksum checkbox, but it still changes the first 2 bytes of the bin file just without prompting to save.

Let me know if you find a way to not save a checksum. I think this along with the Ostrich emulator would be a great combo if I could get this worked out.

Thanks Again,
Rob

Yeah, I got them. I'll fix this for you and get you a private build. I've been busy on 4.0, sorry!

Do ver4 will take care of this bug? Mine is just doing the same and still patience editing it with hex editor after using tunerpro rt. Burning a rom without prior editing will corrupt the file.

Yes, this is fixed in 4.0. It's currently in beta testing and should be available in a week or two.
