intermittent crank sensor pulse

This is my first time using TunerPro. All of the help videos are done very well. I was able to get setup with the correct files to data log my 1227747 ecu. It is from an 87 GM van that had a 350. We have installed the system onto an AMC 360 that is in a jeep CJ5. On to my question. When the motor is running the crank sensor pulse switches from yes to no while it is running. but it is very intermittent says yes for moments then no then back to yes. When the vehicle is running I would assume it should get a constant pulse so I thought that should just say yes until the engine was not running. It does stay a constant no when the engine is off. We have made our first few logs with it running but they are still on the laptop we have in the jeep.
