tunerpro can not connect to 1986 y body ecm

I am new to tunerpro and i am having difficulty connecting to my 1227165 ecm taken from a 1986 y body. I have had a 1989 memcal installed thus eliminating the cold start valve. My problem is none of the bin def's or datasteams available (mask $6E or $32) connect reliably. I am using a red river ALDL cable that is recognized. If connected I get erroneous data and dropped connctions. I tried the changes recommended by Moates when converting ads to adx, did not help. Any ideas?
