As long as a software was made for the same DME it should work (my 403 DME worked with either 950 and 541 softwares)

Re: M3.3.1 motronic (413 and 506) tuning and XDF update?

Looks like this D9 is somekind of injection/ignition event counter or something like it. D9 starts from 0 and it counts to 255 in about 30 seconds@1000rpm and in 10 seconds @ 3000rpm... Doesn't roll over. It stays on 255 when it reaches it. You may be right, on some others versions of Motronic ther...

I've seen this "1utomatic checksum correction" in some xdf but it doesnt work.
Anyway like olafu said, a bad checksum only causes a CEL, I personnally never change checksum on my tunes, I have just deactivate checksum dtc.

MAP conversion for high boosted application

I was reflecting about using a MAP sensor with our 3.X(.X) motronics. For low boost applications the simplest solution is a MAF swap for a bigger one, and seems to work well. On 403 all values for clamp are 200, but like you said it must be very engine dependant and the VANOS must be the reason of these differences.
