Need help dataloggin - 89 TransAm - 16198259

Post by Dragonsys »

I have tried using $6E, but it will not connect to the ECM. the only mask I can get to connect is $32B, but all the data is incorrect.

I have been told that the 16198259 ECM is a re-man'ed 1227165, and therefore the 1227165 $6E should work just fine with it.

I am using the ALDL/USB cable from moates.net. I have tried every version of the $6E ads and xdf files that I can find, and none of them will connect to the ECM.

I have a custom chip by pcm4less, and I removed it, just in case that was the problem, but I get the same results.

I need to know which files to use, or if there is something I am doing wrong...

Car Info:
Model - 1989 Pontiac TransAm GTA
Engine - 350 TPI - L98
Transmission - 700r4
ECM - 16198259 (1227165)

Do you have the 10K ohm resistor enabled between pins A & B on the ALDL cable? There's a switch for that on the moates interface. It needs to be enable for $6E.

yep, it is enabled.

After some more ttesting, we think the problem is actually with my ECM. I'm gonna try replacing it.
