Upgraded to V5 from V4.14 and now Tunerpro will not emulate.

Post by clayborne25 »

I am working on a windows 7 netbook. I had V4 of tunerpro RT running on the netbook for a while now, but I recently needed the data tracing function of V5. When I upgraded Tunerpro will not recognize my emu(moates 2.0). I know everything is in working order and installed correctly as far as cables and drivers are concerned because it worked flawlessly with V4.14. Anyone else have this problem or have a solution to this? I would be very appreciative!

(I've not heard of such an issue).

Have you tried going back to V4.14 to make sure it still recognizes the Ostrich?

Have you tried reinstalling V5?

I'm not sure if you have done this, but when you are installing TP, you can assign each version to it's own folder.
I.E. I have V5 installed in the generic Tuner Pro RT folder that it uses by default when the program first installs, but when I re-installed V4.14, I assigned it a V4 folder so I can have both versions installed at the same time. Only one will run at a time though.

Yes, I have gone back to v4.14 and everything works. I have also reinstalled v5 twice. I will try putting the versions in their own two folders. Would there be a reason for the program to not be comparable with a netbook?

I think it is installed at port 4. I read that It should not be installed past com 8. I will look and double check when I get back to the computer tonight.

It should function on any port from 1 to 256.

So, the Ostrich is not found at start up or when you click on the Initialize Emulation Hardware button?

The detection code hasn't changed in ages (and it hasn't changed much since v4). Make sure you don't have other software open that has the port open (such as another instance of TunerPro, TunerCat, etc).

Outside of that, I have no explanation for what you're seeing.

Oh, I didn't know there was one newer. I guess it has been a while since i last tried getting v5 to work. I will download the newest version and try again! I'll report back with results!

Downloaded the newest version, and still nothing. I have both versions on the computer now, both v5 and v4. V4 still connects fine.

EDIT: I also just made sure the driver is up to date, which it is.

I have no explanation. You might consider contacting Craig Moates. He may be able to remote into your machine to inspect your setup.
