Laptop with additional screen for Two screen setup

Post by hnracing »

Hi,
Running
TunerPro + emulator + OBD (ADX) on a laptop(main screen) with additional screen(slave screen) for Two screen setup.
(Dell E5500 laptop + WIN XP Pro sp2 + extra screen)
On the laptop I want to have TunerPro running with the Fuel & spark map table opened.
The dash I want to "move" to the other screen(slave screen) and maximize it there.
But I can not move the dash out of the TunerPro program window.
I can maximize the dash but it opens up in the main screen then I do not see the Fuel & spark map.
If I move Tunerpro to the other screen(slave screen) and then maximize the dash from there it suddenly opens up as maximized in the other screen (main screen) uncontrolled.

Do I do it wronlgy?
Is it a bug?
Or is it a new feature I am asking for ?

In version 5, open the dashboard and hit F8.

Thanks!
But just let me know if it should behave like this.
Tunerpro in main screen,
open the dash,
press F8,
move the dash to the slave screen,
on the dash window press the symbol in the upper right corner to maximize.
Fine! It is now maximized in the slave screen, althou with the upper blue bar at the top.
But
Tunerpro in main screen,
open the dash,
press F8,
move the dash to the slave screen,
on the dash window double click on the top bar to maximize.
Not Fine! Because now the dash maximize in the main screen above the TunerPro (without blue bar at the top)

I am always using v.5 latest ver.

Yes, that's the way it's supposed to be. Double clicking the title bar does a full-screen maximize without changing any position memory. To get out of that mode, press the escape key.

Anyway to make the portion of TP RT (I.E. The main work area, or the dashboard) maximize on the second screen?

I tried to move the dashboard to the second screen on my desktop after reading this thread, which is a very cool feature BTW, and when I tried to maximize the dashboard in the second screen it maximized in the first screen and covered my taskbar, which made it difficult to reduce the size. I used task manager, since I didn't think of the Esc key. lol

Think there is a confusing of the terms used here.

Maximize
If I use the symbol in the upper righ hand corner of a window.
That will "Maximize" the window but the window will still have the upper blue bar. And will not cover the taskbar.
Also alt + spacebar and then X can be used

Full screen
Is what happen when you double click on the dash upper blue bar.
No upper blue bar. And will cover the taskbar.
In other program some windows gets Full screen when F11 is pressed.

In the above msg we have used the terms "Maximize" for both "Maximize" and "Full screen".

six_shooter says the same thing as I say.
If you open dash and use F8 and then move the dash to the slave screen.
You can maximize the dash in the slave screen.
But it will still have the blue bar at the top.
What you not can do is to double click on the upper blue bar to get full screen.
(No blue bar at the top) because then the dash opens up in the Main screen.

Just drag/maximize the undocked tabbed window where you want it.

You can't do that when it's maximized.

Also mine only maximizes in the main screen, not the slave screen, even if I move the component (I.E. Dashboard) to the slave/second screen. When I hit maximize, it goes back to the main screen, and maximizes there. Covering the entire screen, even over the task bar.

Right. What I'm suggesting is that you don't use the full screen mode (which, by design, sits on top of everything and has no title bar). Undock the tab window and resize it to be as large as it can in the monitor that you choose.

I'll look into making the full screen mode work in the respective window.
