Desynced timing after trying to match two base maps

Post by Turneer »

Hey guys
I tried syncing two different base maps on my ECU last weekend because I wanted a cleaner idle and smoother throttle response. I expected it to be plug and play since both maps were supposed to be close spec. What actually happened is my timing feels slightly off now and idle hunts when the engine is warm. Only real change was flashing the second map after a long highway run, so maybe heat soak or adaptation values messed with it. The whole thing almost feels like a weird desync situation, kind of like when systems that should line up don’t quite stay in step unless you manage them properly (a bit like tools people use for multiple calendars sync). I’m not a pro tuner, just learning and testing carefully. Has anyone had weird desync issues after switching maps like that and found a stable way to sort it?
