Newbie Chip reading

Post by nrthrly »

:? I just started diving into this so i am grateful for all the forum help I can get. Did a TPI swap on my 94 'Burban; 383 alum. vortec heads, MSD,etc. Howell engine did the harness mod and burned a custom chip. I have the memcal out and put it in a HDR1 on Autoprom. Tried to read it with TP RT under tools menu but it seems to freeze while 'writing file'. Then tried the Moates read/burn applet, and it seemed to work. But the bin is corrupted (3D tables look like Sierra Nevada) and it is a 32K bin. The chip is a 29F512 out of a 16196395 ECM. Any thoughts? Thanks

:?OK, this will be my log. Sorted out bin issue; recieved bin from writer, compared to bin pulled with HDR1, identical. Could have been mask problem. But still can't emulate; motor runs horribly.??? Put Memcal back in ECM. still won't run so wonderif chip could have been corrupted some how? Wierd??? Other issue I'm havng is cannot datalog. Tried ALDL cable attached/not attached. checked TPRT settings. different switch position on Autoprom???? Still having fun though!

:(Still can't emulate! Memcal installed DOES allow motor to run. But, with G3 adapter, ribbon cable, APU1, and TunerPro motor runs like crap(limp home mode?).
Questions;
1 Is there a better way to attach ribbon cable to adapter besides holding in place with pressure? (add ZIF?)
2 Does AutoProm require another driver in addition to FTDI driver?
3 Does my 16196395 ECM require 10K option on AP?
4 Should I be loading single bin (w/ Checksum disabled) or should I be loading a stack for emulation?
Thanks for any help!

16196395 have a 64k chip not 32 k thats way you are in limp mode.
you have a coruped bin or wrong xdf its odfil for 6395.
you hook up the aldl and read no 10 k is needed
