E36 euro M3 3.0 ecu 075 - checksum not working

Post by pahlok »

Hi everybody,

I'm experimenting with tuner pro and my E36 M3, but the thing is altough I've got the correct XDF, when I save the moded file I get the following message from tunerpro "Error - one or more checksums could not be uplodaded".

Been checking and searching but I can't seem to find anything

XDF here http://www.tunerpro.net/download/bindef ... dme075.xdf

ori file here http://www.tunerpro.net/download/bins/B ... oft081.bin

Thanks
Pedro

Hi thanks for answering, so no need for checksum correction??

Also on your XDF the maps are not showing.

Cheers

if Laimis made or edited the XDF in TPV5, and you're using TPV4, that's why.

ok that's done, upgraded to 5. Now it doesn't give any error when saving a mod file but I don't see any changes on the checksum as well, altough it says checksum updated?! Is this normal?

since the checksum function was removed, i wouldn't expect to see it change.

makes sense, but does it need a new checksum calculation or not?

i assume it would, otherwise, why would there be a checksum to store in the first place? i don't know if it's like GM calibrations where you can set a certain byte to $AA to disable the checksum or not, i don't know a whole lot about the BMW stuff.

Ok thanks, maybe Laimis can help us out here since he modified the XDF.

Thanks

It works without checksum, i have tested on S50 it works just fine. Maybe diagnostics computer will show engine ECU error, but who cares. If i recall correctly Euro M3 even does not have "check engine" light.

After reading this post http://www.ecuconnections.com/forum/vie ... f=2&t=1440

On this file http://www.tunerpro.net/download/bins/B ... oft081.bin

I can see that the map checksum bit is in blocks 7EE7-->7EE8 and actual values is F400. But can't seem to find the address from where the maps start, I can never get the F400 value on the HxD checksum analysis. :(

Help is appreciated

Edit:

I just sorted the checksum for total file, it's easy with winols and hexeditor. Now my question is if you sort the total file checksum do you still have to worry about the partial checksum of the tables?

Something new about this ecu?
Works on Version 34 and 81 find all corrospondig maps which are in the known xdf file...
Also some maps, rev limiters, offsets (idle = *10, rpm = *0.25 ...). But maybe somebody found other maps and is willing to share with me?
