Motronic 1.8 XDF creation

Hi all, first post on here

Im trying to figure out how making an XDF file works on TunerPro

vehicle in question is a Volvo 960 with a B6304, ill have to obtain an EEPROM reader to get the BIN file from the ECU directly

some searching brought up this (below), but im not sure how this gets translated into an XDF file

any help is very much appreciated

You should be able to read the bin off that ECU using a $10 KKL cable and this motronic plug-in for tuner pro RT I've been working on.
I think it's been tested on a volvo M1.8 ECU already.
The bin download can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes.

If you get the bin downloaded, I can make a very basic xdf from it as a starting point for you.

do you have a plugin for a non RT version of TP?

is the above info any good to you or is it just misc internet shite?

do you have a schematic for the hookup of the cable to te ecu?

The RT version is required - it's an RT plug-in. When it's used with a specially modified Motronic ECU and bin file, it can do real-time ECU tuning - not just download bins.

That information you found looks like a good start - it shows the location of the maps, their size and axis contents (assuming the info is correct).

eg 710F 711A Map 15h (3x4) (CAhx4Bh) - the map axis starts at 0x710F and is a 3x4 map with axis of engine load and RPM.

It won't help with other parameters and settings (eg rev limiter etc) but better than nothing ;)

The ECU will have a K line (and maybe an L line) wired to some form of diagnostics socket. You can probably get an adapter cable off ebay to connect a KKL cable's OBD plug to the car.
Sorry, I don't know much about volvos so can't tell you what the diagnostics socket would look like or where it would be but you could probably work it out from looking at a wiring diagram.

hmm...

was alittle confused for a minute there, i took tunerpro RT as being for windows RT/ ARM based hardware...

there is a 6 pin socket under the bonnet, i assume the K line goes to that, i can check the wiring diagram at work (the joys of being a volvo tech)

rev limit is a non issue at the moment cause the car is still auto, if it gets a manual and a decent exhaust, the stock cams will still make power to about 7200....

to start with, im really after the ign map and maybe fuel, not too sure if ill need that or not, there is a surprising amount of torque to be gained just by tweaking the timing map for 98 octane fuel, bearing in mind it still made 150kw on 91 from the factory in 1991 from a 3l engine

Hi,

I am working an a Motornic 1.8 (Early Volvo 960).
Did you get a good XDF file?

Have downloaded one from turbobricks, but it is incomplete

I am turbocharging it, so it is twice as big injectors compeared to stock.
I expect that I need to manipulate startup and such as well as the ordinary fuling and ignition.
