I purchased a cable in 2001 here http://www.akmcables.com/
It has the 10K resistor built into it. I confirmed this recently both with a Fluke 88 (9.90K ohms), and visually by opening it (I have photos).
The resistor is soldered into the cable's printed circuit board.
