1999 Crown Vic P71 ARA1 PCM

I have a project vehicle that currently has a powertrain harness out of a 1999 Crown Vic and a PCM out of cop car (P71) CC ARA1. Would by a slim chance would someone have a definition file that would be the companion file to the ARA1 bin file? I would like to think that this is a bin file that has h...

Re: Ford EEC-V questions

Last week in my first post, I mistakenly called the banks bins when I was talking about switching bank order. I have a Moates Quarterhorse on the way, and it makes me wonder if my bank orders are going to have to be rearranged to use the Moates device when I'm Using it for Real Time(RT) tuning?

Re: Ford EEC-V questions

Thanks, dex, 8065 Machine code in an internet search yielded information about a CNC machine with 8065 in its part number. In a search for just machine code a few results popped up.

Re: Ford EEC-V questions

Last night I found a program online called "Hex Editor Neo" I opened a 256k bin file in it and am able to see the hexadecimal code. I saw the repetitive lines of "ff ff ff" filler code. Total lines of code I think may be 40,000 divided by 16 x 10. ~25,000. Am I counting this corr...

Ford EEC-V questions

While I'm waiting on my Scanmatic 2 Pro from Europe, (I tried twice to purchase a Mongoose Pro for Ford but there is a major supply issue), I purchased the recommended tool by ECU Tools to go with module # 29 to work with 1996-2004 Ford PCMs. In my wait time, I have been reading some about bin swapp...

Re: can I flash using a pass thru and rt 2002 ranger ecu

I'm very new at this but I have been told that it takes software like PCMflash and a compatible pass thru device to do such. I have a Mongoose Pro for Ford on the way, so I haven't had the opportunity to quite do this myself. All that I have found on YouTube are foreign language videos of someone re...

Yes wwhite. I'm familiar with efidynotune and the forum. It really is deep on the tuning aspect of it.
QUESTION: What would happen if you opened the wrong to each other, the bin and xdf file?

Re: Decel to sudden stop causing stall

@Portmod7 Those questions sound like to me that you have the equipment and can access the Bin and XDF file with Tunerpro. Is your TH350 an old style automatic with no electronic hook ups? I would make that change. Also, it doesn't sound like you need the park/neutral switch hooked up. Why do you nee...

Re: Correlation of Bin file to XDF file

I have yet to order the ECU Tools PCMflash & module #29 for the 1996 to 2004 because one supplier stated that any shipments were on hold because of the ridiculous war going on in Ukraine. I will try to order again in two or three weeks. This is an ignorant question because I don't know much of w...

Re: Correlation of Bin file to XDF file

dex, OK. The help file, helps a lot. About a third of that I figured out poking around. Features like the search (magnifying glass) and parameter comments helped a lot after I figured them out. Next is to work with comparing bins. For example, earlier I opened a '97 Explorer 5.0 bin to look at the M...

Re: Correlation of Bin file to XDF file

I'm amazed at the lack of tutorial resources on the internet for people that are starting out tuning Fords. Also, a glossary of terms and acronyms would be of great help. The one Ford guy that I have found has advanced so far through the learning curve that he assumes everyone knows what he is talki...

Correlation of Bin file to XDF file

I've been using a borrowed bin and xdf file to get to know my way around TunerPro. I understand the bin file is the binary data and it is the "computer" language and contains all of the information that makes the data understandable? to us humans that read english, in the form of an xdf fi...

Password workaround

I have acquired a BIN file and a XDF file that I have loaded in to TunerPro to use to learn how TunerPro works. A couple of things that I have encountered leads to 2 questions. One, is there a workaround having to do with needing a password? I have tried admin and password among others. Also, some o...

Re: Windows 10 OS and newest version of Tunerpro RT

Thanks Dex. I have a VMV2 device on the way. I assume that this functions like a J-2534. I'm just learning about all of this, so mistakes are entirely possible. I'm looking at software to be able to read and write a specific year group and type of Fords. Here is a short list of what I own and will b...

Re: Windows 10 OS and newest version of Tunerpro RT

For anyone wanting to know, TunerPro plain functions well on my Windows 10 Pro laptop. I will be using all of this for Ford tuning. For the past 20+ years, Ford tuners were accessing ECMs and PCMs through a port on the back of the unit called a J3 port. I'm not familiar with GM vehicles or any other...

Re: Windows 10 OS and newest version of Tunerpro RT

Thanks dex and turbohugh. I now have my laptop with Windows 10 Pro with 4 GB ram and I see now after a couple of weeks of digging, searching etc that the vLinker is simply a DTC tool. I have on the way a VCM2 J2534 generic chinese knockoff tool on the way and hope that it will work in an adequate ma...

Re: TunerPro and adequate equipment

With limited information available and very limited help, I think that I will need some type of J2534 device to connect the laptop to the vehicle. I'm primarily trying to work on OBD2 Ford products, ~1996-2003. If anyone here is doing the same, let me know please. Thanks

@turbohugh Thanks for the input. I'm not sure if my datalink cable will be adequate. I will give it a try though. It showed up in the mail today.
it is a Vgate vLinker FS OBD2 USB Adapter for for-Scan HS/MS-CAN Auto Switch. I'm picking up the laptop in a day or two. Thanks

Re: Windows 10 OS and newest version of Tunerpro RT

Hello, My name is Greg and I'm in north Alabama. My business name is Ala-Tenn Mustang specializing in the restoration of antique, classic Mustangs. Up to this point, ECMs and PCMs haven't been a part of what I/we do here at work. Until lately. A few of our old Mustangs will not be restored stock wit...
