Harness extentions or a break out box

Post by Craig Smith »

Has anyone come across a harness extention for a Ford OBD1 ECM?
I sure would like to have my ECM box with the harness about 2 foot longer than it is.
If you take the ECM out of the old Fox body cars, it's just long enough to lay flat on the floor. It makes it real hard to try and make a breakout for a sensor. Plus I would like to take it out of the original location and put it in the glove box.
I use a Moates FMU adapter and the Ostrich, right now they are just lying in the floorboard of the car.
Not a very nice place if you have a passenger.

I've seen them in the past and they haven't been cheap. Ryan McCormick (www.fordfuelinjection.com) has the loom connector and matching terminals available but I think it'll be hard to find the eec connector. It might be simpler to get an old eec together with harness and make your own.
