APU1 Reading bin

Post by Irocing »

Just getting started. Questions and many more to come I imagine.

87 Iroc 5.7 ECM- Highly modded motor.
APU1 USB with all the adapters.
Starter chip for combo from PCformless, 29C256 chip.
Runs in car so know is good. TunerPro RT registered program.
Have read all posts on reading chip but no luck. :(

Is there something under the tools setup need to check and adjust
before getting started? Under preferences and file associations nothing
is checked.
What program do I use to open bin files as not opening file.
When working does the chip info show up in the #3 table boxes on
the left to look at or make changes.
APU1 showing connected in Tuner program.

Have all this hooked up to my main computer to learn and play with
before setting up my laptop,APU1 and cables to car so can datalog.
Help appreciated :)

Thanks

I'm having a hard time following your questions.

"What program do I use to open bin files as not opening file. "

- TunerPro is the only program you need to open the bin files (not sure wha tyou mean by "as not opening file.").

"When working does the chip info show up in the #3 table boxes on
the left to look at or make changes. "

- when working what? You need to open the bin definition for your application. If you're running an '87, I believe you need a $32B ECU or XDF. Once you open that you'll be able to see items in all 3 lists that you can double click to edit.

Does that help?

Thanks for reply,

Will try the $32B.
Think my problem was trying to use the windows programs to open
up the bin.
For the 87-165 ECM what would be the best mask as its called to read
and edit or program the chips.

3rd Gen.org forum seems to be the best place to get up to speed on
this.
Thought I could just blow thru all this but going to take awhile

Thanks

Why not try the ARAP.bin with 6E.xdf if auto?
