1986 Corvette
Hello everyone, this is my first attempt to use tuner pro to interact with the computer of my grandfathers 1986 corvette. We got the Moates ALDU1 and CABL1 combo pack found here:
https://www.moates.net/aldu1-and-cabl1- ... l?cPath=64
My dads co-worker said that we should be using the $6E mask and definitions but i believe that we should be using the $32 mask and definitions. Can someone please let me know if i am correct with needing to use the $32 mask? I was getting very strange readings with the $6E so before i reprogram a PROM i want to ensure I'm using the correct files.
Thanks to anyone that can help!!!

Can confirm, $32 works with a stock '86. Not meaning to hijack but this is somewhat pertinent. Out of curiosity is there any specific reason the $32 doesn't allow 8192? I know a specific "handshake" is needed with the ECM for it to start transmitting at 8192 baud. Is it that no one knows what the handshake is for the '86? Always wondered this.
Thanks!
Thanks!

So you're saying it's actually a limitation of the stock prom for an '86 corvette? And to get the 8192 baud you have to burn the prom with the updated ($6E) bin? Pardon my ignorance if I've got it all wrong...Mangus wrote:The code for 8192 isn't included in the $32 bins. $32b and $6E have it. No reason not to update $32 and $32B to $6E. Just unplug the cold start injector when doing so.

All 1227165 ECMs are able to communicate at 8192 baud. My 1986 Corvette with BUA firmware communicates just fine at 8192 baud with Diacom software.
See this note from Ward Spoonemore, who disassembled and commented the very first BUA "hac" back around 1995:

Code: Select all
* The ECM will listen for 50 ms after completion of the 160 baud ALDL list for an
* inbound test device originated 8192 (polling) message.
*
* If the 8192 polling message is accepted, 8192 communications will continue until power down.
