ok, i have 3 PCs here, a HP Laptop, a Compaq Laptop and a NoName Desktop PC - the both Laptops with WinXPPro, the PC with Win2000
with the HP Laptop i can scan every ALDL 160 Car/ECM with TunerPro ... works all fine - with ALDL 8192 (tried it with my MAF TPI with '165 ECM), it starts the connection, but after 20 - 30 seconds it stops; then i have to restart the whole Laptop before a new connection is possible
with the Compaq Laptop i can scan ALDL 8192 without problems (tested it at my TPI for about 20 minutes) - but with ALDL 160 (tested it with a 91 Caprice TBI ECM and a S10 Blazer with TBI too) it recieves nothing
With the Desktop PC it works fine with every car and every ALDL speed.
It's always the same cable from moates (the ALDU1) and the same ads definition files.
Here are the defintion files (they are written by myself):
For the 91 S10 Blazer (ALDL160): http://www.lnoperformance.de/files/ads/ ... 91_S10.ads
for the 91 Caprice (ALDL160):
http://www.lnoperformance.de/files/ads/ ... 3B-car.ads
for the 165 TPI ECM (ALDL 8192):
http://www.lnoperformance.de/files/ads/ ... 9_8192.ads
Since the definition files work with some of the PCs, it can't be a mistake in them - i hope you have an idea what else i could try to fix this
Curious matter with 3 different PCs

Thanks for the definition files! Please keep them coming! Do you mind if I post them on my site?
Regarding the strange serial communication issues you're seeing, With the cable plugged in, if you right-click on My COmputer and go to properties, then select the Hardware tab, then open the device manager. Expand the Ports tree and open the COM port that the cable is using (probably COM4 or COM5). What are the settings when you go to advanced?
You should have the latency set to 1 (it defaults to 16), and have the buffers set to their max (4096 if I remember correctly).
Let me know!
