Need recovery help! Ram dump failure and ECU type

Post by hononwah »

Guys,

I hope I dropped this into the correct area. I have several years tuning Megasquirt but am a noob to TunerPro.

This is related to a Buell, but that forum is dead and I think this is going to be a generic issue.

I changed mufflers on my '08 XB12R and wanted to turn off the exhaust valve. With Tunerpro, I pulled down the program from my ECM, switched the value (Flags) for the exhaust valve and reloaded the program to the ECM.

The process appeared to go smoothly.

Now starts my trouble. I cycled the key and attempted to pull down the new tune from the ECM, this returned a ram dump failure.

I attempted to open the ECU with a different program, but ECM Spy returned a Check sum error.

I tried reloading the unmodified tune, Tunerpro instantly returns an upload success. If I try to download the tune to TunerPro I instantly get a success. If I download to file I instantly get a ram dump failure. The ECM type is now reported as a BTE2D. The ECM should report as a BUE2D.

Has anybody run into this issue before?

How fatal of an error is this?

Any recovery suggestions?

Thanks for the help guys and gals!
